Hinds, Jean M.

Jean M. (Steeves) Hinds, a resident of Norwood since 1946, passed away Saturday, September 4th at the Caritas Norwood Hospital after a brief illness.  She was 84.  Jean was born in Boston on February 4, 1926 to George and Lillian (DeBruyn) Steeves.  She was a graduate of Quincy Highschool and later of Northeastern University.  Jean was an active member of the Christian Women’s Club, The Women’s Guild of the Disabled American Veterans, and the United Church of Norwood.  Jean also volunteered in the radiology department at Norwood Hospital as part of the Caritas Norwood Hospital Ladies Auxillary for 30 years.  Jean is predeceased by her husband Caryl E. Hinds, as well as her parents, George and Lillian Steeves.  She is survived by her children:  Earl and his partner Jill Janoff of California, David and his wife Carole of Plainville and Claire Lauzon and her husband Raymond of Norwood.  She is also survived by her grandson Matthew Lauzon and his wife Erika of North Carolina.  Visiting hours will be held FRIDAY, September 10th from 6-9pm at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols Street, NORWOOD.  Jean’s funeral will be Saturday, September 11th at 8AM at the funeral home, with interment to follow at the Woodland Cemetery in Keene, New Hampshire.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Norwood Hospital Auxillary, 800 Washington Street, Norwood, MA 02062 would be appreciated.

Boudrot, Richard

Richard C. Boudrot, a resident of Dedham, died on Sept.2 surrounded by his family.  He was 78.  Mr. Boudrot was born in Newton and was the son of the late Edward S. and Frances M. (Wassung).  A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the United States Air Force.  He then went on to become an elementary teacher.  He taught for over 30 years in Dedham at the Riverdale School and Dedham Middle School.  He was a member of the American Legion, Post 18 and the VFW ,Post 2017. He often liked to reminisce about the Air Force and his time spent as a radio operator in Korea.  He fondly spoke of being a member of the Bully Beef Squadron.

He enjoyed growing his tomatoes, traveling, spending time at his cottage in Wareham and canoeing.  He loved his pets, particularly his dogs, “Terry” and “Topaz”.  His greatest joy were his “3 girls”: His beloved wife Lorraine M. (Aker), Susan of Duxbury and Pamela of Los Angeles, CA.   He was predeceased by his 2 brothers,  Edward and Thomas Boudrot. A  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9AM at St. Susanna’s Parish, 262 Needham St., Dedham.  The burial will be private.  Visiting hours will be at St. Susanna’s Parish on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the MSPCA, 350 So. Fox, Joan E.

Joan E. (McNeil) Fox, a resident of Roslindale for 30 years, and formerly of Brighton, died Friday, September 3rd, 2010 at her home in Roslindale.  She was 67.  Joan was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on May 18, 1943, the third daughter of Edward and Muriel Ethel (Anderson) McNeil.  During her childhood she and her parents travelled and lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Havanna, Cuba, and Hamilton, Bermuda.  Joan moved to Boston during college.  She graduated from Boston University in 1965.  There she met David Fox, whom she married in 1966.  In 1972 she received a master’s degree in speech and language pathology from Northeastern University, and practiced as a speech therapist in the Weymouth public schools from 1972 to 1976.  In 1976 she was granted a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Community Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern University, and provided mental health treatment in clinics, agencies and outpatient facilities.  She specialized in family therapy, having received certification from the Boston Family Institute in 1979.  In 1980 she was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Deparrtment of Mental Health.  For ten years she provided mental health services to state inmates and their families in state prisons such as MCI Cedar Junction, MCI Norfolk, and MCI Framingham.  From 1990 until 1992 she worked as a staff psychologist at the Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center in the South End of Boston, training staff, providing psychoeducational services to homeless men and women, co-leading an AIDS education group, and providing consultation to neighborhood programs.  In 1992 she received a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology.  Dr Fox was the Clinical Director of Aftercare Services in East Boston from 1992 to 1995. In 1995 she joined a private practice in Norwood, Massachusetts where she provided a wide range of Psychological services until her retirement in 2007.  Throughout her career Dr. Fox also provided volunteer services to the developmentally disadvantaged adult community.  In December 2008 members of the Stratford Street United Church held a vigil for Joan and David, walking a labyrinth in silent prayer and in support of her treatment for cancer.  Dr. Fox was predeceased by her sisters, Lois McNeil Patchett and Marjorie Ethel McNeil.  She is survived by her husband David; loving nieces and nephews; and many close, caring friends.  Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, September 7th from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale.  Her funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 o clock at the Stratford Street United Church, 77 Stratford Street, West Roxbury, MA 02132.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Stratford Street United Church (address above) would be appreciated.

Dietzel, Frances Pearl

Frances Pearl (MacDonald) Dietzel, a resident of Dedham since 1956, died Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 at the Charlwell Nursing Home in Norwood after a long illness.  She was 81.  Pearl was born June 8, 1929 in Norwood, Massachusetts, a daughter of Charles H. and Bessie (Thayer) MacDonald.  She grew up in Norwood and graduated from Norwood High School.  She is survived by her husband, Frank George Dietzel; her son Frank George Dietzel Jr., and his wife Cindy, of Westwood; her two grandchildren, Andrew J. Dietzel, and Amanda J. Dietzel, both of Westwood; her sister, Phyllis MacDonald of Walpole; and her two brothers, Charles MacDonald of Blackstone, and Ralph Peckham of Walpole.  Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.  Pearl’s funeral will be Tuesday at 10 AM at the Funeral Home followed by burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Sol Amor Hospice, 123 Waterhouse Road, Suite 5, Bourne, MA 02532 would be appreciated.

Hibbard. John W.

John W. Hibbard, a longtime resident of Dedham, died on Sept. 1 with his family by his side.  He was 92.  Born in Dedham, he was the son of the late Albert D. and Clara F. (Nudd).  A graduate of Dedham High School and Bates College in Maine.  Mr. Hibbard was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army.   He was employed as a claims adjuster for property and accidental insurance, working at  Norfolk & Dedham Insurance Company.  He was the former president of the Roxbury Highland Cooperative Bank, an active member of the Allin Congregational Church and served on the Conservation Committee of Dedham and was a Mason with the Constellation Lodge AF & AM of Dedham (now Celestial Lodge of Westwood).  Gardening was one of his passions and  he always liked to tend the garden at the Endicott Estate every year.  He enjoyed spending the winter season on the family farm in Vermont.  His greatest joy was his family.  Married to the late Ruth H. (Buchanan) for 66 years, together they raised their 5 children, Sally Mols of Nevada, Betsy Dyke of ME, Nancy Stuart and Peter Hibbard of Dedham and Susan Campbell of Auburn.  He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 25th at 11:00AM at the Allin Congregational Church (address below).  Donations in Mr. Hibbard’s memory may be sent to the Allin Congregational Church Memorial Fund, 683 High St., Dedham, MA 02026.

May, Richard W.

Richard Wayne May, a resident of Plainville for the past 12 years, and formerly of Norwood, died Wednesday, September 1st, 2010 at his home after a long illness.  He was 51.  Rick was born July 2, 1959 in Norwood, Massachusetts, the only son of Russell and Marilyn (Chamberlain) May. He graduated from Blue Hill Regional High School with the class of 1977 and then worked as an auto technician for about 25 years at Browne’s Garage in Norwood.  Rick then spent 8 years working as a heavy machine operator for P.J. Hayes Company of Walpole.  He enjoyed biking on his Harley, boating, waterskiing, grilling on the barbeque, and just being around his family and friends.  And make sure there the bowl was full of M&M’s.  He was also an avid “Mickey” fan and his family wants you to know that Mickey Mouse attire (and harley attire too!) is most welcome at his wake and funeral.  Rick is survived by his beloved wife Patricia “Patty” Beth (Rasmussen) and his adored daughter April Elizabeth May.  He was also the father of Derek Lee May of Norton and Kevin May of New York.  In addition Rick leaves his mother, Marilyn (Chamberlain) May of Norwood; his two sisters, Laurie Jo Ahern of Norwood, and Lynda May Gundlach of Norwood; his three grandchildren, John, Derek and Tayler May; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Patty, Rick and April would like to thank Cindy and John, (Patty’s sister and brother-in-law), their families, and their many friends for their loving support during Rick’s illness.  Visiting hours will be held Friday, September 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols Street, Norwood.  Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home Saturday at 8 AM and proceed to St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Washington Street, Norwood for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 o clock.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Winter Street, Norwood.

Cornacchini, Margaret J.

Margaret J. (Hughes) Cornacchini,  a longtime resident of Dedham,  died on August 26, 2010 with her family by her side.  She was 75.  Born in Boston to the late Joseph Hughes and Anna (Cashes),  Mrs. Cornacchini’s greatest joy was her family.  She also enjoyed playing cards, was an avid reader and loved to cook.  The family would get together every Sunday , at 2PM for her delicious dinners.  She was a member of the Dedham Chapter of the Women of the Moose.  Margaret was the beloved wife of Norman G. Cornacchini and together they raised their 4 children; Norman, Jr. of Abington, Lisa Mullinix of Dedham, Linda Cotto of Dedham and the late Nancy McCann.  She is also survived by her brother Joseph Hughes of Marlboro.  She was the loving grandmother of Melissa Wilson, Collin and Ryan Mullinix, Jennifer and Michelle McCann, Nicholas and Julie Cotto and great grandmother of Alexander Vert and Lucas Wilson.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham.  Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.  Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4 to 8 PM.  Donations in her memory may be sent to the New England Sinai Hospital Foundation, 150 York St., Stoughton, MA  02072.

Ziergiebel, Rose M.

Rose Marie (Connolly) Ziergiebel, a longtime resident of Westwood, died Thursday, August 26th, 2010 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts.  She was 93.  Rose was born December 31, 1916 in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of John J. and Margaret (Timilty) Connolly.  After high school she attended business school for a year and then worked briefly as a secretary before marrying Carl Albert Ziergiebel, Jr.  Besides her late husband, she was the mother of the late Carl A. Ziergiebel, III, and the sister of the late Margaret Granlund.  She is survived by her two daughtgers, Dianne M. Arena of Westwood, and Margaret Borax of Upton; her two sons, John J. Ziergiebel of North Attleboro, and James M. Ziergiebel of Westwood; as well as 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Rose was a former volunteer at the Westwood Council on Aging.  Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 31st from 7-9 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at the Highland Cemetery on Winter Street in Norwood.  Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern Massachusetts, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215 would be appreciated.

Kilday, M. Diane

Mary Diane Kilday, a resident of Roslindale since 1978, died Friday, August 13th at the Deutsches Altenheim German Centre in West Roxbury at the age of 74.  Diane was an active member of the Bethany United Methodist Church in Roslindale, and enjoyed many years of fun, support, and inspiration through her friendships at Bethany.  She was a great lover of music, dancing and singing, an avid reader, talented crocheter and knitter, and had a great appreciation of nature and gardens.  She worked as a medical secretary for many years at Children’s Hospital, Deaconess Hospital, and the Boston MRI Center.  Diane was the wife of the late William J. Kilday, and is survived by her son James Kilday of Jamaica Plain, daughter Catherine M. Kilday of Centerbury, NH, daughter Carol Hinckley and her husband Joseph and son Morgan of Millis, and daughter Christina T. Kilday of Providence, RI.  Diane leaves behind a legacy of love, courage and strength and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  Interment and services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20030-6011 would be appreciated.

Lashus, Eleanor E.

Eleanor E. Lashus, a lifelong resident of Roslindale, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Norwood Hospital in Norwood after a brief illness.  She was 87.  Eleanor was born March 10, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of Harry and Elsie (Simen) Lashus.  She graduated from the Boston Clerical School and worked for many years as secretary in a local law firm.  During World War Two Eleanor and her sister Helen worked with the USO entertaining the troops that were about to be deployed to the theatres of the war.  She was also a longtime active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Roslindale.  She was the sister of the late Carl and the late Helen P. Fitzgerald.  She is survived by several cousins.  Visiting hours will be held Wednesday Aug 18th from 6 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Thursday at 10 AM at the Funeral Home followed by burial in the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, Baker Street, West Roxbury.  In lieu of flowers donations to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1195 Centre Street, Roslindale, MA 02131 would be appreciated.
