Hogan, Daniel F.

Daniel F. Hogan of Norwood passed away on January 17, 2022 after a hard battle with lung disease and cancer. Son of the late Francis and Dorothy Hogan, he leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 year, Nancy Songin-Hogan, his sons, Luke and Zack, their girlfriends, Kelsey and Rachel, and his older sons Daniel and Scott. He also leaves his siblings Bobby and Patty and their families. He also leaves his grandsons, Sean, Thomas, and Eric, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Dan lived in many places; Florida, California, and Rhode Island, but Norwood was his true home town. Dan served in the Marines and, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.” He was proud of his military service. Dan leaves many friends, some from his elementary school days, Norwood is like that. Dan had an “unusual” sense of humor; some understood it, some not so much, but he kept the nurses at Beth Israel laughing. An avid reader, he even connected through his reading habit with some of the BI nurses who took such great care of him until the end. An animal lover, Dan and Nancy always had many dogs and cats. His pitmix, Meatball, is already missing him. We hope Dan is somewhere running free with his late pitmix, his old buddy, Choppa. Run free, breathe free. We will miss you so much.

You know I’m sitting here thinking about when I first met Danny I was 10 and he was eight. First guy I met wasRoger Lanier on Railroad Avenue I was going down on my bike he was coming up I didn’t know what to think I saw him with a some kind of stick in an trash can cover. The stick had a blob of hard tar on it. Well I turned around and off I went away from that maniac. When I get up to Fulton Street it was Danny Orange fiery hair. He said hi I said some maniac is chasing me up the street with a big stick. He said that must be Roger. Don’t worry about him he’s a good guy and he introduced me to him. Danny introduced me to Pat about an hour later on the wall. An my adventures begin. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the whole world.

Dan, I hadn’t seen you in many years since our softball club from The Depot. Time flies by before our eyes. You were always a friend and fun to be with. A pretty good ball player too! Rest in Prace in Heaven. To Nancy and your family, I offer my deepest condolences and prayers that you take comfort in your memories with Dan
