Margeson, Vendla O.

Vendla Otilde (Fredriksen) Margeson, a longtime resident of Westwood, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham. She was 82. Vendla was born April 15, 1940 in Boston, Massachusetts, the oldest of the six children of Karl Johan and Wendela Sylvia (Anderson) Fredriksen. She graduated from Roslindale High School and worked as bookkeeper for a commercial real estate firm. Vendla served as the secretary of the Westwood Young Women’s Club for many years. She also drove school bus number 4 in Westwood for many years. Vendla loved music, and played the piano. She also enjoyed card games, sudoku, and yard sales. Vendla was the beloved wife of Ernest Manning Margeson and the dear mother of Sonja Burke, and her husband Michael, of Westwood, Lisa Vigliano, and her husband Peter, of Needham, Kurt E. Margeson, and his wife Sigrid, of Westmanland, Maine, Aleta V. Wolckenhaar, and her husband Marten, of Bedford, and the late Linnea Sylvia Margeson. She was the sister of Karl O. Fredriksen of Foxboro, Erik J. Fredriksen of Derry, New Hampshire, Linnea Richardson of Eliot, Maine, Karin I. Sullivan of Hingham, and the late Martha Hanson. Vendla was the cherished Grammy to 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday, July 23 at 11 am at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 950 East Street, Dedham, 02026. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Luke Lutheran Church (address above) or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA, 02452 would be appreciated.

    Vendla had many talents, we will miss her. A wonderful big sister who along with her husband Ernie were looked up to and held with great esteem by all who have known them.

    Vendla was loving mother and devoted wife.Her children and family always came first.
    She had a beautiful smile and a happy laugh.
