Carter, Charles E.

Charles Edmund Carter, a resident of Dedham for over 60 years, died Saturday, December 12th, 2009 at his daughter’s home in Mansfield after a brief illness.  He was 97.  Charles was born March 21, 1912 in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of Albert Edmund and Sarah (Wheeler) Carter.  He grew up in Lexington and worked for 32 years as a machinist for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology until his retirement in 1976.  Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and doing crossword puzzles.  He was the husband of the late Blanche Mary (Boncek) and the brother of the late Albert and George Carter.  He is survived by his two sons, Charles R. Carter of Millis and James Carter of Middleboro; his two daughters, Beverly A. Treannie of North Attleboro, and Laraine Thompson of Mansfield; as well as 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Dec 16th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.  Relatives and frinds will form a procession which will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Thursday and proceed to Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree for his graveside service at 10 o clock.
