Palombi, Elsie

Elsie (D’Alvisio) Palombi, a lifelong resident of Hyde Park, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at her home in Hyde Park after a brief illness.  She was 91.  Elsie was born June 25, 1918 in her family home in Hyde Park, a daughter of Frank and Laura (Colella) D’Alvisio, immigrants from Italy.  She graduated from Hyde Park High School and spent a year at beautician’s school training for her career in hairdressing.  Elsie was the owner and operator of Lillian’s Beauty Shop in West Roxbury for over 30 years until her retirement in 1980.  She was a member of MilPar, and an active member of the Hope Baptist Church, where she held many different positions including Church Secretary and member of the Board of Deacons.  She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Anthony Palombi; as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews.  Elsie was the sister of the late Paul, Buster, Jennie and Rose D’Alvisio, Ruth Ricottelli, and Theresa DiMartino.  Visiting hours will be held Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.  Funeral Service will be Thursday at 10 AM at the Hope Baptist Church, 1916 River Street, Hyde Park followed by burial in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Hope Baptist Church (address above) would be appreciated.
