Anderson, Carolyn

Carolyn A. (Patterson) Anderson, a longtime resident of Dedham, passed away on March 27, 2024 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her parents Leota and James Patterson. She is survived by her sister Linda (Patterson) Victoria and her husband Al of Tennessee, her children Jennifer Anderson and Tracey (Anderson) LeGendre and her husband Robert of Dedham. Carolyn is also survived by her former husband David Anderson of South Boston. She was the loving grandmother of Christopher and Abigail LeGendre of Dedham. Carolyn also leaves several cousins in Massachusetts and extended family members in Nova Scotia, Canada. Carolyn moved from Nova Scotia to Massachusetts as a young girl and attended the Riverdale School. She was a graduate of Dedham High School and of the Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing. She retired a number of years ago from her lifelong career as a nurse after working in a number of skilled nursing facilities around New England. She especially enjoyed her year on Martha’s Vineyard working at Windemere. She always loved the gingerbread cottages in Oak Bluffs and relaxing in a rocking chair on the porch of her favorite hotel. Carolyn was a crafter and would help with school fairs and church bazaars in her younger days. She would often make beautiful gift baskets for coworkers or for charity raffles. She later took up knitting to help with her rheumatoid arthritis. Services and interment will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made in Carolyn’s honor to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Heart Association.

    Tracey & Jennie,

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your Mom. I have fond memories of her – she always would take the time to say “hi Marianne” whenever I saw her in the neighborhood.

    Thinking of you all,
    Marianne Ghizzoni

Oh Carolyn, I can not believe you are gone. There is such a void in the family now. At least I know you are not in pain and at peace. You were my big sister and only sibling. I loved you so much. I promise you that I will do everything I can for Tracey and Jenny. My heart is broken and tears keep flowing. It has been like a bad dream but unfortunately the reality is that it is not a dream. Love and Hugs, Linda.
