Wilson, Donald

Donald Bagge Wilson, a resident of Fort Pierce, FL and Westwood, Mass died suddenly Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Foxhill Village. He was 89. Former residencies included Concord and Boston. His wife of 67 years, Skip Wilson, passed away just six weeks earlier. Mr. Wilson was born in Winchester, the son of the late Albert Olof and Anita Bagge Wilson. He was a graduate of Harvard College in Cambridge, Class of 1942 and served as Lieutenant in the Pacific during World War II aboard the USS North Carolina. Mr. Wilson was President  of A. O. W ilson Corp., a family company in Cambridge which was founded by his Father in 1923.

Active as a volunteer for the museum he loved, Don was for many years a member of the Board of Directors of the Museum of Science, Boston. He was a member of Rotary Club International where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow for service to the community. Don Wilson also served as President of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce and as a Trustee of Wentworth Institute of Boston. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Wentworth.

Don was an avid boater and gardener, especially at his former summer residence in Rhode Island where he served as Commodore of the Saunderstown Yacht Club. He and his family enjoyed his yearly catch from Narragansett Bay as a licensed lobsterman.

Don Wilson is survived by his children Susan King of Jamestown, RI, Amanda Curtin of Cambridge, Cynthia Wilson of the Netherlands, Christina Wilson of Cape Neddick, ME and Albert O. Wilson III of Breckenridge, CO. He is also survived by 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. The memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 59 Court St., Dedham, MA 02026.
All are Welcome.   The family will host coffee in the Parish hall immediately following the service. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Donald B. Wilson Fund c/o Museum of Science, Science Park, Boston, MA 02114.
