Boone, Phyllis

Phyllis Louise (Atkins) Boone, a resident of Palm Harbor, Florida for the past 28 years, and formerly of Westwood for 28 years, died Thursday, October 9th, 2008 at Manor Care of Palm Harbor Nursing Home in Palm Harbor, Florida.  She was 91.  Phyllis was born in Dedham, MA, a daughter of the late Henry E., and Gertrude (Chamberlain) Atkins, and graduated from Dedham High School.  She worked at the lunchroom at the Deerfield School, at the Norfolk County Trust Company in Westwood, as a secretary for John Hancock Insurance Company, for Westwood Insurance Company, and many years as the secretary of the First Baptist Church in Westwood. After moving to Florida, she and her late husband volunteered at the Eisenhower Elementary School in Palm Harbor, Florida for 22 years.  She was the wife of the late George James “Ike” Boone Sr., who died in 2004, and the sister of the late Charles Atkins, the late Gertrude Blair, and the late Gladys Crawford, and the mother of the late George James Boone Jr.  Phyllis is survived by her son Karl R. Boone and his wife Barbara of Wrentham; her 3 grandchildren, Kimberly Donnellan, Christopher Boone, and his wife Jenn, and Wendy Boone; and her two great grandchildren, Marcus and Skylar Boone.  Private interment will be in New Westwood Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held Saturday, November 22nd, from 3 to 5 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High St., Westwood.  in lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, Ma 01701 or to the Hospice of Florida Suncoast, 2675 Tampa Road, Palm Harbor, Florida, 34684 would be appreciated.

    We’re so sorry for your loss and sorry that we can’t be there for the memorial service. You are in our thoughts. We like to remember all our phone calls and visits and know that Aunt Phyllis is back together with Uncle Jim.
