Pateras, Ernest “Ernie”

Ernest Pateras, a resident of Jamaica Plain since 1985, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in Stoughton, after a long illness. He was 85. Ernie, as he was called by many, was born in Boston. He was the son of the late Harry and Garafalea (Botsekas) Peteras. He served briefly in the United States Army during the Korean War. Ernie was a salesman for many different companies throughout his life but spent the last 20 years assisting in the family business “Sausage Connection” as a vendor at Fenway Park.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years Helen (Theodorakos) Pateras of Jamaica Plain; his son Harry, and his wife Zoe Pateras, of Dedham and his daughter Fontina “Tina”, and her husband Joseph Kelley, of Waltham. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christopher A. Kelley, Elena J. Kelley, Eleni F. Pateras and Harry A. Pateras. Ernie was the brother of the late Charlie Pateras, Danny Pateras and Georgia Pateras. Visiting hours will be held Monday, February 7, 2011, 3-7 pm at Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 am at Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 39 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale followed by burial at Mount Hope Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers donations in Ernie’s memory may be made to the Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Care Center Resident Fund, ATTN: Susan Drew, Activity Director, 1044 Park Street, Stoughton, MA. 02072.

    Dear Helen,Harry and family,
    I am so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know him but I do know you from Quincy. I am sure he was as nice as Helen and Harry. You will miss him and I will pray for Ernie.
