Stavropoulos, Thomas
Thomas Stavropoulos, a longtime resident of West Roxbury, died Wednesday, May 18th, 2011 at the Faulkner Hospital in Boston. He was 82. Thomas was born January 7, 1929 in Leskothea, Salonica, Greece, one of the two sons of George and Elizabeth Stavropoulos. He immigrated to the United States after World War Two and worked as a maitre’d at the Ritz Carleton Hotel in Boston. Thomas was the husband of the late Bessie (Kaanavas) who preceded him in death in 2005; the father of the late George Stavropoulos; and the brother of the late Harry Stavropoulos. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 5 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Thomas’ funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 39 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale followed by burial in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
