Rose Marie (Avallone) Connolly, a resident of Jamaica Plain for over 70 years, died Sunday, July 1st, 2012 at the Weymouth Healthcare Center in Weymouth, Massachusetts.  She was 96.  Rose was born December 28, 1915 in New York City, New York, the last surviving daughter of Italian immigrants Nicholas and Agnes (Sarro) Avallone.  She worked as a teacher’s aide for the City of Boston and volunteered as a fund raiser for the Columbian Fathers.  Rose was a member of the Ladies Sodality and of the Drum Corps at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Jamaica Plain.  Mrs. Connolly was the wife of the late Joseph Thomas Connolly, to whom she was married for 43 years, and was the sister of the late Carmela Tancreti, Phyllis Ripley, and Susan Catalano.  Rose is survived by two daughters, Patricia Rizzuto, and her husband Peter, of Braintree, and Carolyn McGillicuddy, and her husband Peter, of Dedham; two sons, Joseph Connolly, and his wife Catherine, of Harwich, and Stephen Connolly, and his wife Bernadette, of Quincy; ten grandchildren, Joseph Connolly, Christopher Connolly, James McGillicuddy, Peter Rizzuto, Kathleen McGillicuddy, Christina (Rizzuto) Joseph, Jennifer Connolly, Joseph Rizzuto, Stephen Connolly, and Carolyn Connolly; as well as six great grandchildren.  She was the grandmother of the late Mary Kate McGillicuddy.  Visiting hours will be held Friday, July 6th from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home Saturday at 8 o clock and proceed to St. Ann’s Church, West Milton Street, Readville for her Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
