Giacobbe,Paolo

Paolo Giacobbe, a resident of Westwood, formerly of Roslindale and Dorchester, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on January 24, 2013.  Beloved husband of the late Maria (Soraci) Giacobbe with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.  In December he celebrated his 99th birthday.
Born in Messina, Sicily, Italy, Paolo was the son of Letterio and Maria (Arena) Giacobbe.  After serving in World War II, he was employed at the Navy Yard in Messina.  In 1952, he fearlessly traveled to the United States seeking the American dream, and after much sacrifice he was joyfully reunited with his family.  He was part of the Greatest Generation, leaving his handwork in the city of Boston.  His love for America was faithful and he gratefully called it “the land of plenty”.
Paolo and his wife were passionate about their family and their love for God.  They were avid gardeners, sharing their harvest with family and neighbors.  He was a diligent, hard worker, and in his free time enjoyed fishing at Boston Marina.
Paolo was a devoted husband, father, grandparent and friend to many.  He was the beloved father of Maria Piccione and her husband Paolo of Westwood, Anna Lambiase of Hyde Park, and Nina Bonanno and her husband Filippo of Westwood; cherished grandfather of his 13 grandchildren, Sandra Laurenti, Mary DiDonato, John Piccione, John, Victor, Paul, Andre and Matthew Lambiase, Priscilla Miro, Nicholas Bonanno and Daniela Bonanno, Milena Fagundo and Melissa Giacobbe.  ” Nonno Paolo” was adored by his 17 great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his first born infant son and his youngest son, Letterio Giacobbe.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday at the Folsom Funerakl Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to share in the warm memories of his life.  Funeral  services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston.
