Barbara had a great influence on my life. She modeled what a Mother should be. She was strong, rational, smart, loving, and supportive. I remember many times when Bob and I were caught doing something incredibly stupid how calmly and rationally she handled the situation. She always sat us down and we talked it out. There were times when I deserved to be banned from the house and I never was. I wasn’t her son, but she never refused to allow me to spend the night when I really needed it. She even sat me down to work with Kim on my first financial aid form to make sure I went back to school. I had never experienced anyone like her before. She gave me an entirely different outlook of how a person should behave and treat others. She never failed to amaze me either. I remember walking in one night and finding her installing a dishwasher at about 1AM. She wanted to get it done so she sat down and did it herself. I remember her beautiful shop in Medfield and her amazing talent for creating and design curtains. She was the 1st woman entrepreneur that I ever knew. She bought the 1st Taurus in probably the entire Metro-West and possibly the entire state. She wanted it so she went right out and bought it. She was so independent and such an impressive person. Even in the hospital, after years of not seeing her on a regular basis, I was quickly reminded of the person I had grown to respect and love through her own family. Each of you handled one of the most painful situations exactly as she would have with love, support, and calm rational decisions. She must have been so proud and happy.
    I will never forget Barbara.

    Dearest Jack and family,
Wanted to be there but couldn’t find anyone that could ride with me to Massachusetts. I just wanted to let you and your family know that our deepest sympathies and love are with you. My memories will be filled with Barbara’s beautiful smile and laughter from when we were much younger. She will be missed. My husband, Ronnie, lost his mother in January to COPD, what a horrible disease. Ronnie also sends his love and blessings to your and yours. God Bless you all.
