Sutton, Alice

Alice Wilhelmina (Lindsay) Sutton, a resident of Westwood for 40 years, passed away peacefully at the Maples Nursing Home in Wrentham, Sunday, April 7, 2013, after a long illness.  She was 88.  Alice was born January 23, 1925 in Lucknow India to Christian missionaries Reverend Alexander and Wilhelmina (Lockhart) Lindsay.  She graduated from Drury High School in North Adams, Massachusetts with the Class of 1942 and earned her Associates Degree from Bliss Business College in North Adams.  During World War Two she  worked for the Red Cross.  Alice worked for many years as a legal secretary for Judge John Maginis in North Adams.  She also worked as a court stenographer.  After moving to Westwood, Alice volunteered for the Welcome Wagon, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Westwood.  Alice is survived by her husband of 68 years, Burton Webster Sutton; her son, Robert L. Sutton of North Carolina; her daughter, Sandra L. Dickinson of Bellingham; her sister, Jean Vanek of Memphis, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Saturday, April 13th at 1:30 PM at the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Financial Management Branch, Building 31, Room 8A34, 31 Center Drive, MSC 2540, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-2540 or online at giftfunds@ninds.nih.gov .
