Florence Clinton, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died on November 8. She was 93. She is remembered for her active life.  Born Florence Ducey, she graduated from Roslindale High School and recieved post secondary education in secretarial and business administration.  She met Charles Clinton on the neighborhood tennis courts. They shared a love of dancing and the graceful dancing couple was the envy of their ballroom dancing friends.  They wed while Charlie was on leave from WWII in 1944.  Florence joined her sister in Connecticut to help with the war effort.  After the war, Florence and Charlie lived in Mattapan until they purchased their home in Dedham in 1952, where they remained and raised four children.  Flo or Flossy as she was known to her friends and extended family also enjoyed bowling, traveling,   card games and Sunday family dinners. Florence worked as a bookkeeper for the Dedham Police Department.  She was an active presence in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives, attending many of their extracurricular activities and significant life events. She was a member of the Dedham Council of Aging and attended the Julia Ruth House, an Elder Day program, where she delighted both staff and residents with her charm, humor and cheerfulness.

Besides her brother Alfred Ducey of No. Andover, she leaves her children, Brian Clinton and his wife Janet of Walpole, Thomas Clinton and his wife Ellen of Dedham,  Wayne Clinton of North Conway, NH and Diane Clinton and her husband Lee Daum of Arlington.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Brian Murphy Clinton, Michael Clinton, Emily Clinton, Erik Clinton, Dan Clinton, Jessica Daum and Sarah Daum and her great grandchildren Keira and Kelsey.

Interment is private.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration memorial mass on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 9AM at St. Susanna’s Church, 262 Needham St., Dedham, MA 02026.  In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be sent to the Julia Ruth House, 199 Canton St., Westwood, MA  02090.
