Gottlieb, Ruth

Ruth (Mayers) Gottlieb, a resident of Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham for the past 5 years, and formerly of New York City, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at her home in Dedham after a long illness.  She was 81.  Ruth, or Bunny as she was known to her friends and family, was born April 3, 1932 in New York City, New York, a daughter of Hank and Edith (Colvin) Mayers.  She grew up in New York City and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Barnard College in New York.  Bunny worked as a professional fundraiser for both New York University and for Barnard College.  She was the wife of the late Dr. Solon Gottlieb and the late Nathan Goldhaber, who predeceased her last December.  She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Andrew Gottlieb of Palo Alto, California, and Dr. Daniel Gottlieb of Brookline; her two daughters, Karen Smith of California, and Nancy Gottlieb, and her husband Matthew Watsky, of Westwood; her four grandchildren, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Rachel Watsky, and Cody Smith; and her brother, Lester Mayers of Pleasantville, New York.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11 AM at Temple Beth David, 7 Clapboardtree Street, Westwood.  Bunny’s family will sit Shivah from 2-5 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, February 23rd at the Watsky home.  Private interment was in the New Westwood Cemetery.
