Darcy, Thomas O.

Thomas Owen Darcy Sr., 50, of Hiram and Falmouth, passed away on Wednesday, March 19th, 2014, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House surrounded by his family and loved ones.

He was born on May 1st, 1963 in Boston, MA, the son of Thomas R and M. Lois Darcy of Westwood, MA. He graduated from Westwood High School in 1981. During his high school years he played basketball and was a member of Young Life. He was best known to his friends as ‘Darse’. After High School, Tom attended Blue Hills Regional Technical School in Canton, MA. He then joined the Local Carpenters Union.

Tom married his high school sweetheart, Wendy Petersen, in 1987 in Westwood, MA and proceeded to have three beautiful children. He left the Carpentry Union and focused his career in Property Management in the healthcare field. Ultimately leading to the family moving to Falmouth, Maine in pursuit of this career path. In more recent years, Tom spent several seasons working for L.L.Bean and Lowe’s.

Tom’s favorite place to relax with family was at the family camp on Boyd Lake in Milo ME. Many hours were spent talking around the campfire, fishing, laughing, and sleeping on the boat. He also spent many weekends with family exploring the White Mountains of NH.

His many other interests include gardening, cribbage, camping, listening to music – especially the ‘Doors’, and attending his children’s sporting events.

Tom had a strong passion for cooking. He looked forward to holidays so he could share his passion with those he loved.

He also had an amazing talent to create Works of Art from a simple piece of wood. Each piece was crafted individually as a sign of his love for the recipient. Each and every piece will be treasured for many generations to come.

He is survived by the mother of his children and wife of 23 years Wendy S. Petersen and his three children; Thomas O Darcy Jr, Matthew T Darcy and Meghan S Darcy all of Falmouth ME. He also leaves behind his sister, Lisa A Darcy of Hiram ME and many nieces and nephews.
