Marjorie L. (Armstrong) Holmes, of Westwood, and formerly of Dedham, died Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Avery Manor Nursing Home in Needham.  She was 89.  Marjorie was born September 24, 1924 in Roslindale (Boston), Massachusetts, the only daughter of Harry E. and Lottie (Trefry) Armstrong.  She graduated from Dedham High School with the class of 1941 and worked as a teller for Norfolk County Trust Company in Dedham for many years until her retirement in 1982.  Marjorie volunteered as a chaperone for the Norwood Debonnaires Drum Club; served on the search committee for a new pastor for the Rowley Church; and volunteered as a den mother for the cub scouts.  She was the wife of the late Arnold T. Holmes who predeceased her in 1981, and the sister of the late George W. Armstrong and the late Robert C. Armstrong.  Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Priscilla E. Lovely, and her husband Bruce, of Dedham; her two sons, Lance A. Holmes, and his wife Lois, of Whitinsville, and Wayne A. Holmes of Ohio; her brother, Warren E. Armstrong, and his wife Francine, of Norton; and her five grandchildren, Alison Holmes, Katherine Holmes, Caitlin Holmes, Martin Holmes, and Brenden Lovely.  Visiting hours will be held Sunday, August 17th from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday at 10 AM at the funeral home followed by burial in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham

    I am so very sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. I have very fond memories of when we where kids on Ash St. I still have my 2 sweaters she made for my daughter Nicole and then son Andrew and will always treasure them more so.
