Mary Josephine (Burns) Brady, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at her daughter’s home in Hollywood, Florida.  She was 92.  Mary was born July 17, 1922 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Michael and Irene (Alexander) Burns.  She graduated from Dedham High School with the Classs of 1939 and attended a year of business school before joining the Coast Guard in 1943.  Mary served as a Yeoman First Class until her honorable discharge in 1946.  She entered the workforce, working as a secretary to the Chief of Police in Dedham, as a secretary for Getty Oil Company and finally as the Executive Secretary to the Board of Selectmen in the Town of Dedham.  Mary was a member of the Women’s Auxilliary of the VFW Post in Dedham.  She is survived by two sons, Edward J. Brady of Pembroke, and John J. Brady; two daughters, Mary Jane Purcell, and Denise Brady, both of Hollywood, Florida; her sister, Betty DeVirgilio of Hyannis; her two grandchildren, Christopher Brady, and Elizabeth Brady Consigli, and her sister-in-law Sylvia Burns of Dedham.  Mary was the sister of the late Marguerite Anderson, the late Rita Burns, the late Gertrude Bonarrigo, and the late Rene Butler, the late William Burns, and the late Francis Burns.  Visiting hours will be held Sunday, March 15th from 4 to 7 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 9 AM at St. Anne’s Church, 82 West Milton Street, Readville followed by burial with military honors at Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Home for Little Wanderers, 10 Guest Street, Boston, Ma 02135 would be appreciated. Special thanks to all of Mary’s friends at the American Legion Post 92 Hollywood Florida for the wonderful memories and good times she shared with them in her final years.
