Frank George Dietzel Sr., a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Charlwell Nursing Home in Norwood.  He was 84.  Frank was born November 30, 1930 in Dedham, Massachusetts, one of the ten children of Henry H. and Mary (Fleming) Dietzel.  He enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 and served for four years until his Honorable discharge in 1955.  Frank worked for 30 years as a firefighter at the Hanscom Air Base in Bedford until his retirement in 1980.  He also served as a call fireman for the Town of Dedham, and after his retirement he worked as a Fire Dispatcher for the Town of Norwood.  Frank was a member of Constellation Lodge AF & AM of Dedham.   Frank was the husband of the late Frances Pearl (MacDonald) Dietzel who predeceased him on September 2, 2010, and the brother of the late Henry, Arthur and William Dietzel, Florence Madden, and Mary Barry.  He is survived by his son, Frank G. Dietzel Jr., and his wife Cindy, of Westwood; his two grandchildren, Andrew J. Dietzel, and his wife Morgan, of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Amanda J. Porter, and her husband Jonathan, of Dedham; his great granddaughter, Anabelle Spiliotis; his brother, Fred Dietzel of Medway; and his three sisters, Joanne Pelletier of Rochester, New Hampshire, Ruth Alsap of Foxboro, and Margaret Littlefield of Montana.  Visiting hours will be held Monday, September 7th from 4 to 7 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by interment with military honors in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.  The Rev James Butler of St. Luke Lutheran Church will officiate.  Donations in Frank’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472 would be appreciated.

    I have missed seeing Frank at the Council on Aging. He was always ready to lend a hand or ask me if I wanted coffee. Frank, you are missed. My condolences to his family.
