Sullivan, Elizabeth Ann

Elizabeth Ann (Murphy) Sullivan, a 50 year resident of Dedham, passed away on Monday, November 23rd, 2015 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born July 30, 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the four children of Thomas and Elizabeth R. (Duffy) Murphy. She was the beloved wife of the late William M. Sullivan and the loving mother of Maureen Brawley of Attleboro, Joyce Burke of Dedham, Kate Sullivan of Dedham, and William P. Sullivan and his wife Andrea of Norton. She was the dear grandmother of Colleen and Katelyn Brawley, Ryan and Kevin Burke, and William and Eric Sullivan. Betty was the sister of Catherine McCarney of West Roxbury, and the late Robert Murphy, Virginia Lyon, and Gerard Murphy, and the dear cousin of Kathleen Fargo of Dedham. At Betty’s request no wake will be held. Family and friends are requested to gather directly at St. Anne Parish, 79 W. Milton St., Readville, on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 10:00 am for her Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment will follow at Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute-Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.

    Kate, my heart goes out to You and the entire Sullivan family. Betty was so strong and such a fighter! You should be proud of how you cared for her throughout her struggle and made her happy! Know that she will live on in your hearts and be remembered fondly! I hope time eases your pain! You have a great support system….lean on them when you need it! With my deepest condolences!
