Pauline “Polly”  (Staples) Gould, a resident of Dedham for over 50 years, passed away on May 27, 2016, in Hingham, at the age of 97.  Polly was born in Boston on July 19, 1918 to the late Henry C. Staples and Alice F. (Page) Staples.  She attended school at Lasell Seminary in Newton, married the late Robert E. Gould, and had a daughter, Suzanne. Polly stayed very active in Dedham and was a past president of both the Fairbanks Garden Club and the Dedham Women’s Club, and was the former co-president of the Dedham Food Pantry, as well as a Master Mother Advisor of the Dedham Rainbow Assembly #81.  She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Friends of the Endicott, Eastern Star-Contentment Chapter, Church Women United, and the Church of the Good Shepherd .  Polly was also known in Dedham for being a crossing guard at the Greenlodge School.  She was the devoted wife of the late Robert E. Gould, and the loving mother of Suzanne Driscoll and her husband Richard of Pembroke.  She was the dear grandmother to Heather (Driscoll) Sanda, and her husband Peter, of Plympton, MA, and Sean Driscoll, and his wife Erica (McCann), of Bristol, RI and great grandmother to Nora Rose Sanda, Lillian Grace Sanda, Miles Richard Sanda, and Declan Robert Driscoll.  A memorial service of her life will be celebrated at a later date. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pauline’s name may be made to the Linden Ponds Scholarship Fund,  203 Linden Pond Way, Hingham, MA 02043 Attn: Philanthropy, or to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 62 Cedar St., Dedham, MA 02026.

    Pauline was our Mother Advisor in Dedham Assembly #81 Order of Rainbow Girls. I know I can speak for others as she was always had faith in us when we were remembering our rituals.
    Prayers for your family as you have moved on to that rainbow in the sky called heaven.

    Mother Gould was an angel in every sense of the word She was a wonderful role model for us Rainbow Girls. I will never forget all the fond memories I have of her helping us with our ritual only to help us improve our stature. God Bless you MOTHER Gould.
