Abdou, David J. Jr.

David John Abdou Jr., a longtime resident of Westwood, died Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston after an extended illness.  He was 69.  David was born August 30, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the four children of Lillian Michael (Solomon) and David John Abdou Sr.  He graduated from Boston Latin High School, earned his Associate Degree from Boston University, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University.  David served in the Army Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1973.  He then worked for 26 years as a police officer for the Town of Westwood, retiring in 2002 as a Sergeant and Detective.  David had been a member of the Norwood Elks, The Dedham Moose, the Westwood Lions Club, The American Legion in Dedham, and the Westwood Police Explorers.  He enjoyed playing cards, casinos, yard sales, and auctions.  He was a licensed auctioneer and planned estate sales.  David was an avid sports fan, and played in the Westwood Over 30 Softball League.  David is survived by his wife, Lois E. (Wagner) Abdou, and his children, David H. Abdou, and his wife Jenny, of Westwood, and Lori Casavant, and her husband Ken, of Millis.  He was the loving grandfather of Jared, Jake, Abigail, Emily, and Lexi, and the brother of William C. Anderson, and his wife Martine, of Foxboro, Richard J. Abdou, of Foxboro, and his late wife Kerry, and Patricia E. Elliott of Wrentham, and her late husband Al.  Visiting hours will be held Monday, November 7, 2016 from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street (Route 109), Westwood, MA.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday at 10:30 am at the funeral home followed by interment in the New Westwood Cemetery in Westwood.
