Zilpha Clark (Nealey) Buchanan, a resident of Norwood, and formerly a resident of Westwood, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Victoria Haven Nursing Home in Norwood. She was 97. Known by her family and friends as “Zee”, she was born May 27, 1920 in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of Russell and Luella (Stevens) Nealey. Zee graduated from Bangor High School with the Class of 1938 and worked for many years as a Library Clerk for Albany International Corp until her retirement in 1970. She was a volunteer at the Council on Aging, a volunteer at the Islington Public Library, and a member of the former Islington Community Church. Zee was also a rabid Red Sox fan whose car sported a Red Sox pennant, and she enjoyed the Patriots. She was the wife of the late George Bernard Buchanan, and the sister of the late Dorothy Dole. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ellen Buchanan of Norwood, and Elizabeth Piper of State College, Pennsylvania. Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to the Friends of the Council on Aging, 210 Nahatan Street, Westwood, MA 02090 would be appreciated.
