Beloved husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather, Bill Babcock died peacefully at the age of 99 on April 25th at the Clarke House in Westwood, MA with his wife, Victoria Babcock, by his side. Born in Carthage, Missouri on April 12, 1919 Bill was the only child of Leon Warren Babcock and Hazel Irene Lane from Lewiston, Maine. After graduating MIT as a Chemical Engineer in 1941 Bill went on to work at Hercules Powder Co., where he met his first wife, Katherine Faison and together they raised one son, Bill Babcock., Jr. and eventually landed in Wilmington, Delaware. During his working career Bill worked internationally, managing, constructing and licensing numerous chemical plants around the world. After retirement and losing Katherine to cancer in 1986 Bill went on to marry Victoria Gordon in 1989 who brought him a large loving family. Victoria and Bill summered in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, a place near and dear to Bill’s heart. Bill was an avid sailor, enjoyed traveling, reading and was a fine craftsman of woodworking and boat building. Bill is survived by his wife, Victoria Babcock; 1 son, Bill Babcock Jr; 3 stepchildren and spouses; Scott and Debbie Kiraly Gordon, Karen and Pierre McClenaghan Gordon, Ingrid and Brian Nevins and 6 grandchildren Eric, Greg, and Brian Gordon, Colette Gordon and Andrea and Mark Nevins
