Virginia “Ginnie” (Craig) Mather, formerly of Westwood, died peacefully on June 28, 2018 in Weymouth.  Beloved wife of the late Bruce E. Mather and daughter of the late Edward and Velma Craig.  Loving mother of Carol of Braintree, Craig of Dedham and David of Brookline.  Cherished grandmother of Tyler and his wife Katie Lynne, Chelsea and Jared; and great-grandmother of Madison.  Ginnie was born in Marlboro and raised her family in Westwood.  She was a long-time parishioner and active choir member at First Parish Congregational Church in Westwood.  She loved music especially playing the piano well into her adult years and sang proudly in her later years as a resident of the Eventide and Dwyer Homes.   She graduated from Marlboro High School and Tufts University where she participated on both reunion committees which she thoroughly enjoyed.  Her sense of humor and warm smile will be greatly missed by friends and family.  Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service for Ginnie which will be held on Friday, July 13th at the First Parish Congregational Church, 252 Nahatan Street, Westwood, MA  at 11:00 AM.  Private burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Marlboro.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ginnie’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452, or to the First Parish Church of Westwood, c/o Ellie London Music Fund, at the address above.

My heart goes out to the Mather family today. I am reflecting on Ginnie and all the delightful memories. She lived next door to my family for many years. What I loved most was her ability to listen and make you feel like the most important person in the world. She made even a young teenager feel important. She was there for my family as a friend and supporter. I will always love her for that.
