Folsom Funeral Service

Folsom, E. Jane

Ethel Jane (Anderson) Folsom, a wonderful wife and mother, died Saturday, September 5th, 2009 at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton with her husband and children by her side.  She was 78.  Jane (do not even think of calling her “Ethel”) was born March 10, 1931 in Norwood, Massachusetts, the daughter of immigrant Swedes August Nathaniel and Jane Bessie Albertina (Anderson) Anderson.  She grew up in Westwood on Buckmaster Road and graduated from Westwood High School with the Class of 1949.  She worked for several years in the late 1960’s as a Circulation Clerk for the Transcript Newspapers Co. of Dedham and then spent 15 years cataloguing new books for the Westwood Public Library until her retirement in 1986.  After retirement wanderlust struck Jane and her husband as they lived for varying periods of time in Wareham, Walpole, Norwood, and Middleborough before returning to Westwood about three years ago.  She has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Westwood for over 55 years, and, in her younger years, was a Sunday School Teacher there.  She enjoyed reading, needlework, travelling, and eating out, and she still watched her afternoon “soap” on the tv.  Jane is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard John Folsom; her son, Robert Mark Folsom, and his wife Donna L. (Jacobs) of Westwood; her daughter, Judith Ann Murray, and her husband John F. of Westwood; her five grandchildren, Sarah Jane Folsom, Brian Robert Folsom, Julia Grace Folsom, Christine Lynn Murray, and Caitlin Elizabeth Murray; and her sister, Vivien L. (Anderson) Reboli, and her husband Warren, of Fountain Hills, AZ.  Visiting hours will be held Thursday, September 10th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood.  Funeral Services will be Friday at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood followed by burial in New Westwood Cemetery, Westwood.  In lieu of flowers donations to the First Baptist Church of Westwood, Christian Education Fund, 808 High Street, Westwood, MA 02090 would be appreciated.
