Berlo, Adelaide

Adelaide “Ann” (Devlin) Berlo passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the age of 94. She was the loving wife of Donald Berlo until his death in 1995. She is survived by their three children: DonnaJean Downer and her husband Jim; Diane Love and her husband John; and Robert Berlo and his wife Eve; as well as grandchildren Jacki Berlo and her husband Mike Schreiner, Diana Berlo, Tina Love, Ryan Love, Nicole Downer and Jamie Downer. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Loretta (Berlo) Totino and her husband Lou, and several nieces and nephews. Ann grew up in West Roxbury and lived most of her life in Westwood. She and Don enjoyed countless hours on their boats where they entertained friends and family. They traveled together to many places, including a cruise on the QE II. After his passing, Ann continued to live independently in the family home until she was 91. During that time, she led the entire family on trips to Aruba and Paradise Island, and enjoyed numerous vacations with family members to Bermuda, Hawaii, Las Vegas and other destinations. She also displayed her gambling prowess on trips to Foxwoods, winning dozens of jackpots. Each year, Ann presided over the family Easter egg hunt for all of her grandchildren. Later in life she looked forward to the many visits by family members, all of whom will miss her sorely. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass Tuesday at 10 am at the Church of St. Denis, 157 Washington St., Westwood followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Boston.     Adelaide was a lovely, kind lady. She was so proud of her family. She and Don were so kind to me and my wife and son. Andy, our son, thought they were the greatest people he ever met.
    We are sorry about her passing. Our thoughts are with all of her family.
