Wallin, Kurt

Kurt Darrell Wallin passed away on June 10, 2019 at the age of 93 at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Boston  where he was a resident and cared for by a very compassionate staff   Born in Aurora, Nebraska to Frederick and Esther Victoria (Dahlberhg) Wallin, who farmed near the village of Hordville, Nebraska.  Kurt attended District 90 Grammar School, a one room schoolhouse located near Hordville.  In 7th grade, he began having vision problems and attended a high school for the visually handicapped.  After graduation he attended Luther Junior College and earned an Associates Degree. He then worked at Bethphage Mission near Hordville for about 5 years.   After moving to Massachusetts, Kurt attended the School of Nursing at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea and after graduation, worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the next 38 years.  In 1951 Kurt and his former wife, the late Esther Aronson became members of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Roxbury.  When he retired, he became the custodian there and worked for the next 12 years.  With many renovations going on, Kurt learned to cope with all kinds of construction concerns.  He said it taught him much patience and that he learned how to deal with and solve many kinds of problems.  Kurt will be greatly missed by his Resurrection church family.   Kurt is survived by his daughter, Lois Manzi and her husband John of Florida along with his grandchildren; Kirsten also of Florida,  Gregory and his girlfriend Kristen and Michael and his wife Vanessa, and great grandchildren Clementina and ShellyAnn, all of New York.  He was predeceased by his son John O. Wallin in 2017.

On Sunday, June 16, 2019, relatives and friends are invited to Resurrection Lutheran Church at 94 Warren St., Boston for visitation at 1PM followed by a funeral service at 2PM.  Interment will take place in Nebraska in Hordville Cemetery.
