Crawford, Jacqueline

Jacqueline Elizabeth (Law) Crawford, a longtime resident of Westwood, died Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Maples Nursing Home in Wrentham after a brief illness.  She was 89.  Jackie was born March 3 1930 in Brockton, Massachusetts, the only daughter of James Hodge and Henrietta Sadie (Files) Law.  She graduated from Winthrop High School and the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston.  Jackie worked as a medical secretary at Boston Children’s Hospital before leaving the workforce to raise her family.  She later worked as the Church Secretary at the First Baptist Church of Westwood for five years before working as the Executive Secretary to Graham Long, the President of the Dedham Cooperative Bank in Dedham Square for 20 years.  Jackie was an active “behind the scenes” member of the First Baptist Church of Westwood.  She was a member of the Dorcas Society, and she used her artistic talents in the Church’s Crafters Guild, and volunteered at every church fair.  She also volunteered at the Westwood High School where she was know as the “knitting and cookie lady”.  She created prayer shawls, booties and hats for premature infants, and she made hooked rugs and braided rugs.

Jackie was the wife of the late William Nathan Crawford who predeceased her in 1997, and is survived by her three daughters, Dana L. Farley of Dedham, Alison C. Majkut, and her husband Allan, of West Warwick, Rhode Island, and Robin R. Towle, and her partner Gary Sheehan, of Norfolk; her son, William Douglas Crawford, and his wife Margaret, of Avon, Connecticut; her seven grandchildren, Kristin Farley, Melissa Farley, and her partner Tim O’Neil, Heather Majkut-St. George, and her husband Matthew St. George, Wesley Majkut, Matthew Towle, Jessica Towle, and her fiancé Dan Houston, and William Thomas Crawford; as well as her former son-in-law Daniel Towle.  She was the sister of the late Allen Files Law and the late James Rae Law.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church of Westwood, 808 High Street, Westwood, MA 02090.  Private interment will be in the New Westwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church (address above). A collation will follow the service.

My condolences go out to Dana, Alison, Robin and Douglas. Cousin Jackie was such a kind and caring person. What a happy and productive life. I was privileged to have her as my cousin. May God bless her and keep her close to Him in Heaven.

I can hear her now with her chuckle. I don’t think I ever heard her saying an unkind word. She was always upbeat even though her life was hard at times. She was a few years older than I, but I will miss my sweet cousin.

Dear Dana, Alison, Robin, and Doug, so sorry about the loss of your mother. I was so happy to have seen her and all of you this past Thanksgiving. What a blessing it was as I had not seen your mother in many years. I can hear her voice and her laugh as I write this. May you all be blessed with the memories of such a wonderful Mom.
