Ofria, Ross A.

Ross Alfred Ofria, a longtime resident of Westwood, and also of Pocasset, died Thursday, August 24, 2020 at the Boston Medical Center in Boston.  He was 91.  Ross was born July 7, 1929 in Boston, a son of Anthony and Mary Angela (Milici) Ofria, immigrants from Italy.  Ross graduated from Boston Technical High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in Boston.  He was inducted into the US Marine Corps in 1951 and serviced proudly until his honorable discharge in 1953 as a Corporal.  Ross worked as a mechanical engineer for the Missle Systems Division for Raytheon Corporation where he helped design the guidance systems for the Patriots Missle System.  Ross is survived by his wife of  60 plus years, Barbara Ann (Caliri) Ofria; his son, Brian A. Ofria of Calabasas, California; his daughter, Kimberly O. Selby of Pocasset; his brother Robert Ofria of New Hampshire; his sister Theresa Haugh of Dedham; and six grandchildren.  Private interment with military honors was held at the National Cemetery at Bourne.  In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen Street, Suite 205, Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 would be appreciated.
