Taeger, Ruth D.

Ruth Doris (Iarrobino) Taeger, a longtime resident of Norwood, died Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at her home in Norwood.  She was 87.  Ruth was born September 23, 1933 in South Easton, Massachusetts, one of the three children of Harold C. and Hjordis (Pretorius) Iarrobino.  She graduated from Roslindale High School and worked for many years as the secretary and office manager for the Campfire Boys and Girls organization.  Ruth was a former member for 40 years of the United Church of Norwood where she served as the treasurer, church council member, assistant financial secretary, choir member, and on the Women’s Guild. For the past 20 years she has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Norwood where she has served as the Moderator.  Ruth ran the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Norwood for 25 years.  She was honored as the Grand Marshall of the 2015 Fourth of July Parade in Norwood.  Ruth loved spending time with her family, and travelling with her children and grandchildren while they were growing up.  She also loved lighthouses (she had a large collection of them) and combined her passions by travelling to numerous lighthouses in the United States and Canada.  Ruth was the wife of Larry Robert Taeger and the mother of David R. Taeger, and his wife Cathi, of Norton, Bonnie E. Taeger-Kimball, and her husband Michael, of Quincy, and the late Mark A. Taeger. She was the sister of John Iarrobino of Florida, and the late Emma DeVirgilio, and the proud grandmother of Nadine, James, and Kristi. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom & May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols Street, Norwood.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Tuesday at 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Norwood, 71 Bond Street, Norwood (Masks are required in the Church), followed by interment in The Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, Baker Street, West Roxbury.  If you wish, donations in her memory made to the Ecumenical Community Food Pantry, 150 Chapel Street, Norwood, MA 02062 would be appreciated.
