Carol Ann Sorensen

Carol Ann Sorensen unexpectedly passed away July 26, 2026. Carol was born on April 12, 1941 in Boston, MA to Francis F. Phipps and Lois J. (Chace) Phipps; and grew up in Braintree. She got an Associate in Science of Accounting at Bentley College and later went back to earn a Bachelor's Degree. She met the love of her life, John, at General Electric Laboratories (GEL) in Brighton. They lived in Dedham for almost forty years where they raised their two daughters. They moved to Worcester recently to be closer to their oldest daughter and granddaughter.

Carol enjoyed staying active doing yoga, bowling, corn-hole, and taking daily walks. She loved playing cards and had a competitive side, having played multiple sports in high school at Braintree High. She had a passion for travel, both within the United States and in Europe. She went on many trips with her family and close friends. An avid animal lover, Carol and her family raised three dogs: Pepper, Tyler and Mack that were near and dear to her.

She leaves her husband of almost fifty eight years John J. Sorensen; daughter Deanna Schmid and her husband Travis of West Boylston, MA; daughter Sharon Reagan and her husband Dan of Walpole, NH; granddaughter Sierra Schmid; 2 step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins; and many dear friends.

She deeply valued her faith, attending Allin Congregational Church and being involved in many committees; always willing to give her time to help others and her community.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

A memorial service will be held at Allin Congregational Church in Dedham, MA on Saturday, August 8th at 11am.
