Claire Anne (Morrill) Dalia, a longtime resident of Hyde Park and the cherished matriarch of the Dalia family, died peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the age of 95. Born April 7, 1930, in Boston, Massachusetts, Claire was the last surviving child of the six children of Fredrick and Lillian (Ryan) Morrill. From her earliest years, she understood the joy and strength that come from a big family, and she carried that love forward throughout her life.A devoted member of the Ladies Sodality and Flower Club at St. Anne's Church in Readville, Claire also enjoyed ceramics and spent many happy years bowling in a league at Empire Lanes as well as the senior league at Ron’s in Clearly Sq, Hyde Park. But above all, Claire’s greatest pride and purpose came from her role at the center of a large, lively, multigenerational family. She was the steady heart of every gathering, the keeper of traditions, and the person everyone turned to for warmth, guidance, and unconditional love.Claire was the beloved wife of the late Augustine Vincent Dalia, who predeceased her in 1996; loving mother of the late Margaret M. Shanahan; and the dear sister of the late George and Frederick Morrill, Alice Allfrey, Theresa Freeman, and Catherine Bonfilio. She is survived by three daughters: Lorraine A. Griffin and her husband Paul of Plymouth; Eileen C. Ahern and her husband Joseph of Bridgewater; and Nancy Freeman and her husband Dale of St. Augustine, FL. She is also survived by her three sons: Vincent A. Dalia and his wife Anne of Norwell; Timothy S. Dalia and his wife Joanie of St. Augustine, FL; and Brian F. Dalia and his wife Kimberly of Norwell. Claire leaves behind her son‑in‑law, Thomas Shanahan of Weymouth; and she was a devoted aunt to Bernice Shields, Ronnie Hannon, and many other nieces and nephews—each of whom she embraced as part of her ever‑growing family circle. Claire was the proud grandmother of Thomas, Scott, and David Shanahan; Colleen Griffin‑Roland; Douglas Griffin; Melissa Black; Cheryl Silipigno; Megan Barron; Nicholas Freeman; and Matthew, Jeffrey, Joseph, Victoria, Jack, Olivia, and Michael Dalia. She was also blessed with 17 great‑grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy. Nothing delighted her more than a full house, a crowded table, and the laughter of generations she helped shape. Visiting hours will be held Monday, February 2, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 3rd starting at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Anne's Church, 82 West Milton Street, Readville, for Claire's Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Boston.
