Diana Alia (Hamaty) Koury, a longtime resident of Westwood, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Brockton Post Acute Care Nursing Facility in Brockton. She was 93 years old. Diana was born on July 22, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late George Elias and Elizabeth Anna "Libby" (Maloof) Hamaty.
Diana enjoyed listening to music and was known to burst into song at any moment. Some of her favorite singers were Engelbert Humperdinck, Tom Jones and Dean Martin. Diana was deeply devoted to her family. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones, especially time spent with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was known by her grandchildren as “Sitto/Sitti.” When she lived in Westwood, she enjoyed running weekly Bingo games.
Diana was the beloved wife of the late Nasseeb George Koury who predeceased her in 2019. They were married for 67 years. She was the sister of the late Donald Hamaty and the late Robert Hamaty. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Brown of Norwood; son, Stephen G. Koury, and his wife Elaine, of Randolph; her four grandchildren, Stephanie Purtell, and her husband Matthew, Michael Brown and his wife Michele, Eileen Koury-Judkins, and her wife Andrea, and Ashley Brown. She is also survived by her four great grandchildren, Weston and Whitney Purtell, and Katherine and Allison Brown.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, June 17th from 4 to 7 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High St, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Thursday, June 18th at 10 am at the Funeral Home followed by interment in the National Cemetery at Bourne. Please check back for updated time of burial at the National Cemetery at Bourne.
