Dr. David Stanley Sheldon, DDS, a resident of Hyde Park, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025 at his daughter's home in Hyde Park. He was 82. David was born February 25, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Leo Stanley and Helen Addison (Fuller) Sheldon. David graduated from Roslindale High School in 1960 and completed his undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and the University of Oklahoma. He received his Doctorate in Dentistry from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. David practiced dentistry in Dedham for over 40 years until his retirement in 2017.
David had numerous hobbies and interests. An avid reader and historian, he was particularly fond of the Revolutionary and Civil War eras and was a member of the Olde Colony Civil War Round Table in Dedham. David also maintained an impressive model train collection, and was a longtime member of the Bay State Model Railroad Club in Roslindale. His other loves and hobbies included stamp collecting and music, and most weekend mornings his home would be filled with the sounds of Gilbert and Sullivan or Old Time Radio.
David was the devoted husband of the late Christina Maria (Olin) Sheldon to whom he was married for 48 years until her passing in 2017. David is survived by his daughter, Dr. Ingrid Sheldon, MD, MPH, and her husband, Malcolm Flynn of Hyde Park; his son, Ethan W. Sheldon of Norfolk; his sister, Ann McLaughlin of Natick; his five grandchildren, Jonathan, Trevor, and David O'Brien, and Alexander and Catherine Sheldon, and eight nieces and nephews. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held in October.
A private burial for family will be held in Hallowell, Maine.
