Elsa Linnea Delaplace, age 90, of Milford and formerly of Westwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 2, 2026 at Cornerstone of Milford with her family at her side. Elsa was born May 1, 1936, in Boston Massachusetts, the first of two daughters of John Axel and Anna Helena (Frisk) Janson. She grew up in Westwood and graduated from Westwood High School, Class of 1954. Elsa worked as a baker for the Dover-Sherborn Public School System for over 20 years, retiring in 1991. She was a life-long and very active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood, MA. Elsa was very involved in the Women of Emmanuel, LCW,the rummage sales, making quilts for ELC, Altar Guild and the Easter Brunch. Elsa was a volunteer at the Westwood Council on Aging, and also for the Town of Westwood where she volunteered as an intake registrar at town meetings and elections. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, reading, camping with her family in their RV, traveling and spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies. Elsa was the wife of the late Louis Robert Delaplace for 54 years until his passing in 2008, and the sister of the late Sonja Janson. She is survived by their son, Eugene John Delaplace and his partner Peggy Angulo of San Jose, California: their three daughters, Amy D. Howland of Phoenix, Arizona, Julie Ackley and her husband Robert Cyr of Millis, MA, and Beth Donovan and her husband John of Medway, MA; her 10 grandchildren Serena Williams and her husband Michael, Shaina Caschera, Jessica Ackley, Adam Ackley, Brandon and his wife Grace Kenley, Sean Howland, and Anna Donovan and her husband Daniel Mongrain, Eric and Abby Donovan, Will Donovan and Sophie Donovan; and her 10 great-grandchildren: Scarlett & Nolan Williams, Austin, Miles, Heidi, Chloe and Clara Caschera, Matthew Ackley, Nathaniel and Dahlia Mongrain. Visiting hours will be held Monday June 8th from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Tuesday June 9th at 10 am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 24 Berwick Street, Norwood, followed by interment in the New Westwood Cemetery. Donations to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 24 Berwick Street, Norwood, MA 02026 or to Camp Calumet Lutheran Family Camp, 1090 Ossipee Lake Road, Freedom, New Hampshire, 03836 would be appreciated.
