Fielding Brown, a resident at Fox Hill Village, died at his home on April 4, 2026. He was 102 years old. Fielding was born in Berlin, New Hampshire on January 2, 1924, to William R. Brown and Hildreth B. (Smith) Brown. After serving in the Army Signal Corps during World War II, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Williams College, and his PhD from Princeton University. As the Charles L. Macmillan Professor of Physics at Williams College, Fielding taught undergraduate students and conducted grant-supported research at M.I.T. before his retirement in 1989. Fielding went on to have a second career as a multi-media sculptor, creating and exhibiting works that reflected the concepts he long studied. Fielding was pre-deceased by his wife of seventy-one years, Eleanor R. Brown, and his siblings. He leaves behind four daughters, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held in private.
