Helen Marie (Flannery) Farrell, a resident of Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham and formerly of Lincoln Street in Dedham, died Monday, January 12, 2026 at Newbridge on the Charles surrounded by her loving family. She was 94. Helen was born June 22, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only daughter of Kieran Cornelius and Helen Marie (Leonard) Flannery. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School with the Class of 1948 and worked for 23 years as a payroll clerk for the school department of the Town of Dedham until her retirement in 1996. Helen was the beloved wife of the late James Francis Farrell, who predeceased her in 2016, and the loving mother of James F. Farrell III, and his wife Maura, of Dedham, Ann Ruggiero. and her husband Richard, of Norwood, Elizabeth Zaski, and her husband Gregory, of FL, Rose Farrell of FL, Kathleen Cunningham, and her husband Timothy, of Dedham, Patricia Gogarty, and her husband Laurence, of Norwell, Mary Faustyn, and her husband Brian of NC, Nancy Gage, and her husband Glenn, of Marshfield, and Margaret Herlihy, and her husband Christopher, of Dedham; and proud grandmother of Michael Ruggiero, and his wife Trina, Jeffrey Ruggiero, and his wife Marie, Lauren Ruggiero, Theresa Cunningham. Stephen Cunningham, and his wife Megan, Emily Cunningham, Timothy Cunningham, Lucy McCallion, and her husband Ian, Mary Ortiz, and her husband James, Jane Gogarty, Alison Dickey, and her husband Michael, Joseph Faustyn, and his wife Natalie, Rose Schell, and her husband Chris, Julia Gage, and Adam Gage; and the adoring great grandmother of Anna, Michael, Gabriella, and Mia Ruggiero, Cameron Dickey, and James Faustyn. Helen was the sister of the late John L. Flannery, and Francis X. Flannery. Helen was a dedicated and wonderful housewife and mother. She doted on her grandchildren and delighter in her great grands. Visiting hours will be held Monday, January 19th from 9 to 10:30 am at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Anne's Church, 82 West Milton Street, Readville, MA 02136. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Anne's Church (address above) or to the Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries, 1010 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02119 would be appreciated.
