James J. Tuohy, a lifelong resident of Dedham, passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2025. He was 90 years old. Beloved husband of the late Mary I. (Hurley) Tuohy, he leaves behind his loving daughters: Marianne Tuohy and her husband, Mark Hoeffler—Jimmy’s best buddy and the son he never had—and Cindy (Tuohy) Egan, wife of the late Marty Egan. He was the cherished brother of the late Albert, Joseph, and Jack Tuohy.
Jimmy spent much of his life working at the family business, Tuohy Florist, before joining the facilities staff at Babson College, where he worked for over 30 years and was known and appreciated for his kindness and work ethic. He and Mary enjoyed camping for many years in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and were regulars at The Midway restaurant, where they loved to dine out most evenings. Jimmy had a special fondness for animals and old cars. He was a natural storyteller who delighted in making people laugh with his jokes. Jimmy had served in the National Guard, and was also a proud member of The American Legion Post 18.
