Jean Ann (Bryant) Meyer, 97, died peacefully in her sleep on May 25, 2026. She had been a resident at Traditions of Dedham for the past two years. Jean's family thanks the staff and aides at Traditions who became a part of her life there. They are among the angels who helped her to pass peacefully. Caring Hospice also was instrumental in allowing her a dignified passing, for which we will always be grateful. Jean was born July 27, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts to Harriet (Best) Bryant and Myron Eldridge Bryant. She married John Edwin Meyer on August 12, 1950 in Brookline, Massachusetts. "Ed" predeceased her on November 4, 1996. Jean was devoted to her surviving children and their spouses; Laurel (Meyer) Daily and Rod, Pamela (Meyer) Perry and Michael, Carol (Meyer) Grip and Tim, and John Bryant Meyer and Loreen (Gattozzi), as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean, a graduate of Colby Junior College, raised four children in Westwood, Massachusetts, where she resided most of her adult life. She enjoyed part time work with friends at Barnes and Jones in Medfield. Jean was a member of the Great Decisions Book Club, Westwood Women's Club, Senior Group at the COA, and the Westwood Garden Club. Although a member of the Garden Club, she was never actually seen digging in the dirt. She was a fiercely loyal friend and never critical of anyone. She treated everyone she met with kindness and respect. Jean loved spending summers with family on Cape Cod and traveling with family and friends to many places. Her "Group” was especially important to her - friends she had known since high school. She was one of the last three remaining from the group of about six couples. For the past 10 years, her dear friend Ann Leonard, had been a constant companion as they always looked out for each other. And, of course, there was her lifelong friend Joan Flynn. Joan was a childhood friend and that friendship continued throughout their lives even as they shared their final weeks together at Traditions, where they were affectionately dubbed The Bobbsey Twins. We have so much gratitude to the Flynn sisters who adored mom and gave us invaluable advice as we entered this phase of her life. Jean died as she lived, with dignity and grace. Service will be private. In her honor, please do a kindness for others.
