John William Chagaris

John William Chagaris, a lifelong resident of Westwood, died Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham after a brief illness.  He was 78.  John was born June 23, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of William Nicholas and Elizabeth Adele (Beneway) Chagaris.  He graduated from Westwood High School with the Class of 1966 and earned his Associate Degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.  John worked as an inspector for Hersey-Sparling Company, a manufacturer of water meters, in Dedham and then for the Smith and Nephew Company in Mansfield, a manufacturer of surgical supplies, retiring from there in 2012. John enjoyed candlepin bowling at the Norwood Sports Center, and was an avid fisherman and golfer. He is survived by his wife, Joyce E. (Anufrom) Chagaris; his son Keith Chagaris, and his wife Sandi, of Centerville; and his granddaughter, Alicia Hallgren, and her husband Joseph, of Hyannis.  Services and interment will be private.
