Mary Edith (Edson) Hunt, a longtime resident of Westwood, and formerly of Brookline and Wellesley, died Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the German Center for Extended Care in West Roxbury. She was 94. Mary was born May 3, 1931 in Wellesley, Massachusetts, a daughter of Theodore Rogers Edson and Beatrice Virginia (Manning) Edson. She graduated from Wellesley High School with the Class of 1948 and went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from Boston University. Mary was an active communicant of St. Denis Church in Islington, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the Westwood Interfaith Council, and of the Westwood Council on Aging, having served on their Board of Directors. She also loved to travel. Mary was the wife of the late Frank Boughton Hunt who predeceased her in 2000; the sister of the late John H. Edson, and the step mother of the late Anne Frank. She is survived by her two sons, Frank B. Hunt Jr. of Shrewsbury, and Theodore E. Hunt of Islington; her brother, Theodore M. Edson of Westborough; her sister, Virginia E. Wilman of Worcester; and her nieces, Dianne Iannelli of Franklin, Stephanie Walsh of Falmouth, JoAnne Szymanski of Holden, Laura Puopolo of Falmouth and New York City, ; her nephews, Theodore Edson of Carlsbad, CA, and John Edson of Jacksonville, FL; and the sister-in-law of her late brother John's wife, Roberta Edson of Falmouth. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11 am at St. Denis Church, 157 Washington Street, Westwood (Route 1A). Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to the Westwood Food Pantry, 60 Nahatan Street, Westwood, MA 02090 (please note for Food pantry on the envelope).
