Olga Firth

Of Westwood, and formerly of Dover, passed away at her home on July 24, 2026. She was 91 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Everett "Vic" Firth, and the loving mother of Kelly and her husband John DeChristopher of Cohasset, and Tracy K. Firth of Walpole. Her accomplished career as a cellist began as a child in Windsor, Ontario Canada before attending the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. She was a member of the Rochester Philharmonic, Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) Symphony Orchestra. Her wit and intellect landed her the co-host role on Long Shot, a CBC current affairs television series. As a student at Tanglewood Music Center, she met her future husband, Everett Firth and moved to Boston in 1960. She continued to perform locally and teach privately. She was also integral in the establishment and operation of Vic Firth Incorporated, the world's largest manufacturer of drumsticks and mallets. She loved tennis, classical music, reading and history. Services and interment for Olga will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Eastman School of Music, at 26 Gibbs Street, Rochester, NY 14604, would be greatly appreciated.
