Of Randolph, formerly of Braintree, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026 surrounded by family. Patricia “Patsy” Carey was born on August 28, 1935. She was the first child of Mary Mullarkey Carey and Francis E. Carey of Brookline. She attended St. Mary of the Assumption School and graduated in 1952 at the age of 16, where she was known for always having her nose in a book. She made many lifelong friends at St. Mary’s, and married her classmate Gerald “Jerry” Ridge in 1957. She and Jerry had four sons and three daughters whom they raised in Braintree. Patsy worked as a Care Coordinator at Dove in Quincy for 20 years and worked on Saturday mornings at the Quincy Historical Society until her mid eighties. She loved the beach and lobster rolls and moved back and forth between Marshfield, Cape Cod and West Palm Beach, FL. Patsy knew that there was so much more to the world than her corner in it and she was determined to see as much of it as possible either through travel, books or movies. She never missed an opportunity to take a trip and visited places like Hawaii, Hong Kong, South Africa, Russia, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, and Costa Rica. Among her most memorable journeys were visits to her mother’s birthplace in County Sligo, Ireland; a visit to a granddaughter on study abroad in Morocco at age 80; and two trips to Cambodia, where two of her grandchildren were adopted from and which held a special place in her heart. Patsy was predeceased by her husband Jerry; her parents; her stepfather Jeremiah Downey of Brookline; her brother Robert Carey of Brookline; her sister-in-law Eleanor (Hand) Carey of Chantilly, VA; her brother-in-law John F. Ridge Jr. and sister-in-law Beverly Ridge of Sacramento, CA; and her son Thomas Ridge. She is survived by her brother Gerard Carey of Chantilly, VA and sister-in-law Joanne (Bryan) Carey of Brookline. She also leaves behind six children: Carol Ridge-Martinez of Brighton; John “Jack” Ridge of Randolph; Joanne Flatley and husband Thomas of Westwood; Laurie Ridge Landry and partner Tommy Doyle of Glastonbury, CT; Stephen Ridge of Westfield; and David Ridge and wife Fernanda of Uxbridge. She will also be missed by her nine grandchildren: Daniel Martinez and his husband Austin Felton of Brighton; Lauren Flatley of Medford; Kimberly Flatley of Arlington, VA; Sean Martinez of Brighton; Daniel Ridge of Quincy; Kanha Landry and Lee Landry of Glastonbury, CT; Brendan Flatley of Westwood; and Christina Ridge of West Roxbury. She will also be missed by her former daughter-in-law Jennifer Smalls Ridge, three great-grandsons, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting hours will be held Friday, October 30th from 5 to 7 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home 649 High Street, Westwood.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home starting at 8 am on Saturday, October 31st and proceed with us to St, Susanna's Parish, 262 Needham Street Dedham for her Mass of Christian Burial at 9 'o clock.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.  Donations to the Dove Shelter, PO Box 690267, Quincy, MA 02269 or online at https://www.dovema.org.
