Saundertown, Rhode Island

Paul K. Keating, 90, of Saunderstown, Rhode Island passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025. Paul leaves his wife of 65 years Mary Ellen (Spencer) Keating and his three much loved daughters: the Honorable Mary Beth Keating and her husband John Axelson, Moira Keating, PhD of Narragansett, Rhode Island, and Margaret (“Maggie”) Keating Hunt and her husband Peter of Medfield, Massachusetts. He will be missed by his eight grandchildren: Mitchell Keating Axelson, Britt Keating Axelson, Finn Patrick Keating, Declan Paul Keating Connor, Cormac Padraig Keating Connor, Ted Keating Hunt, Abigail Keating Hunt, and Chloe Keating Hunt. Paul, who grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts, was the son of Patrick Keating of Tipperary County, Ireland and Delia (Curtain) Keating of County Clare, Ireland. He was the brother of Mary Valinski, and the late Edmund Keating, and Kathleen Barrette. Paul graduated from Saint John’s High School in Worcester, Massachusetts and the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Paul was a highly respected investment advisor, known for his professionalism, honesty, and trustworthiness. Always willing to help others, he was a valued mentor to many. After a successful career spanning more than 50 years at firms such as: Merrill Lynch, White Weld, and Drexel Burnham, in 2019 Paul retired from Morgan Stanley as Senior Vice President and Financial Planning Specialist.

As an Irish Catholic, Paul’s life was guided by his faith and deep commitment to service. He gave generously of both his time and talent serving as a dedicated member of numerous boards including: the Bishop Russell J. McVinney Memorial Foundation, the Diocese of Providence Pension Committee, the City of Pawtucket Pension Committee, the Pawtucket Police and Fire Pension Board, Pawtucket Memorial Hospital Board, and the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket for which he received the National Youth Service award for his 35 years of devoted service. As remembered by James Hoyt, the CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket: “Paul Keating made a positive impact on the lives of tens of thousands of our youth members and their families.”

Paul was an avid golfer and member of Wannamoisett Country Club for 47 years. For him Wannamoisett was not just a golf course; it was a place of cherished memories. It was here where he celebrated his daughters’ weddings, built lifelong friendships, and had the honor of serving as president from 1993 to 1995.

Despite all his accomplishments, his professional success, dedication to service, and the many lives he impacted, his greatest joy and fulfillment came from his family. Above all, he cherished being a husband, father, and grandfather; and his family will be forever thankful for his love and guidance.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibha anam.”
