Peter Arthur Pedersen III, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died peacefully March 31, 2026 at the Briarwood Nursing Home in Needham after a brief illness. He was 91. Peter was born November 2, 1934 in Dedham, Massachusetts, the son of Peter A. Jr, and Lylie Winifred (Carveth) Pedersen. He attended Dedham High School where he sang in the Boy's Glee Club and he was a pitcher for the Dedham High School Baseball League. His abilities were such that he was invited to try out for he Boston Braves.. In 1953 he enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served for three years in Europe during the Korean War until his Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant in1956. Peter retired in 2002 as the Assistant Vice President of Store Operations for the TJX Corporation. He was one of the original 15 TJ Maxx associates that helped launch the chain and was the initial store manager of the first TJMaxx store that opened in Auburn, Massachusetts in 1977. Peter was a music lover and true audiophile outfitting his home with high end audio equipment, and would often break out in song. He was the husband of the late Marion Ruth (Scharegge) Pedersen who predeceased him in 2022 and is survived by his son, Steve Zarba of Norwood; his daughter Pamela Pitaro, and her husband Mario, of Norwood; his two grandsons, Anthony Pitaro, and his wife Victoria, of Norton, and Christopher Pitaro, and his wife Isabella, of Norwood. He was the stepbrother of the late Clifton and the late Donald Moore. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, April 15th from 5 to 7 pm at the Folsom & May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols Street Norwood followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7 pm. Interment will be private. Donations to the Animal Rescue League, 55 Annas Place, Dedham, MA 02026 would be appreciated.
