Regina Linnea (Gustafson) Putnam, a longtime resident of Dedham, died peacefully on January 2nd, 2026 at her home in Dedham surrounded by her loving family. She was 94. Regina was born May 22, 1931 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, the daughter of John Edwin and Esther Marie (Erickson) Gustafson, immigrants from Sweden. "Beanie" as she was known to family and friends throughout her life graduated from Dedham High School with the Class of 1949. Regina worked as a bookkeeper for the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham from 1979 until her retirement in 2015. She was a member of Contentment Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Dedham and a longtime member of the Blue Hill Community Church in Readville. Regina enjoyed knitting, word search puzzles, and indulging her beloved grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, George C. Putnam; her two children, Jeffrey Laurence Putnam, and his wife Sharon, of Blackstone, and Susan Marie Putnam of Dedham; and her five grandchildren, Abigail E. and Benjamin W. Putnam, and George P., Linnea M., and James J. Hanney. Regina was the sister of the late Roy, Ralph, Robert, and Richard Gustafson, Rita Raftery, and Rosalie Carlson. She was also a cherished aunt and friend to manyand will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, January 8th from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Friday, January 9th at 10 am at the First Congregational Church, 100 Winter Street, Norwood followed by interment in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.
