Shirley Pearl (Alber) Mingels, a lifelong resident of Dedham, passed peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025 at the Brush Hill Nursing Home in Milton. She was 97. Shirley was born February 5, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of William E. and Anna Stacia (Meighan) Alber. She graduated from Dedham High School and worked as a secretary for Dun & Bradstreet for 10 years and later as the secretary at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Dedham for 9 years, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband to Alaska, Hawaii, the southeastern coast of the united States, Texas and California and chronicling their trips photographically. They also enjoyed several cruises. Shirley was deeply involved in her children's activities as well as an active parishioner at St. Lukes Church.
Shirley was the wife of the late Francis T. Mingels who predeceased her in 2010. They were married for 54 years. She is survived by her two sons, Mark W. Mingels, and his wife Betsy, of East Bridgewater, and Scott F. Mingels of Dedham; her sister Carolyn Cochrane of Norwood; her stepdaughter, Emily Jeanne Mingels of Richmond, Virginia; as well as 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was the sister of the late Ruth Alber and the stepmother of the late James J. Mingels, Gerard B. Mingels ,and Anne Jay Obuchon.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, July 9th from 4-8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Thursday, July 10th at 10 am at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 950 East Street, Dedham followed by interment in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 950 East Street, Dedham, MA 02026 would be appreciated.
