Stanley Eric Nyberg, a longtime resident of West Roxbury, died Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale. He was 77. Stanley was born January 30, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts the youngest of three sons of Leroy Milton and Anna Maria (Olson) Nyberg. He was a graduate of Boston Latin School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus; his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Yale; his PhD in experimental psychology from the State University of New York (SUNY) in Stoney Brook, New York; and a post doctoral fellowship at UC Berkeley. He was a co-author of a textbook on Human Memory. Stanley taught at North Park College in Chicago and was a professor at Barnard College, Columbia University, in New York City. Later in his career he was the State Registrar of Vital Records and Vital Statistics for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Stanley was a member and past president of the L Street Running Club of Boston, was involved in many community organizations, served on the Board of Directors for both the Scandinavian Living Center in Newton, and the Adelbrook Home for Children in Cromwell, Connecticut and a life long member of Forest Hills Covenant Church. Stanley was a very caring person who touched the lives of many people. He is survived by his brothers Milton (Dorothy) of Baltimore, MD, and Kenneth (Lynnette) of Franklin, MA, and a nephew, Eric of West Roxbury, MA. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 8, at 11 am at the Forest Hills Covenant Church, 455 Arborway, Jamaica Plain, MA 02131. Private interment was held at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Jamaica Plain, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stanley’s name to Forest Hills Covenant Church.
